Britains relationship with tea is much shorter, but tea

With figures like these, it is no surprise that time spent taking tea affects the working day in Britain. A recent

3、 survey found that 24 minutes a day are lost to making, buying and drinking tea and coffee. That is, £400 a year is lost in working hours per employee, or 190 days over a lifetime. So, should employers be worried about this lost working time, or does the tea break make up in other ways? One arg

4、ument is that caffeine improves mental state: a drink of tea or coffee can make you active and focus on work. Professor Rogers of the University of Bristol disagrees. After years of studying caffeine he sees nothing can prove that. “Workers would perform equally well if not drinking it at all,” he s

5、ays. “But if theyre often drinking it and then go without, theyll feel tired and wont work well.” Psychologist Cooper instead emphasizes the role tea breaks play in office life, and in building social relationships. “We need to make people more active and see other people. The tea break is one way o

6、f doing this,” says Cooper. And Professor Rogers also points out the comfort effect of a hot drink: “We warm our hands on them on a cold day; theyre comforting and play a big role in our everyday life. 16、le to do many simple tricks with numbers. Here is one trick. It has seven steps. First, write down your house number. For example, if your address is 73 Lemon Street, you would write down 73. Next, double(翻一倍) it. In other words, multiply(乘) it by two. Then, add five to this doubled number. For exam

17、ple, if your address was 73and you doubled it, you would get 146. Then, if you added five, youd get 151. So, to repeat the first three steps, write down your house number, double it, and add five. Fourth, multiply this number by 50. In our example here, if you multiply 151 by 50, youll get 7550. The

18、 fifth step is to add your age to this total. For example, if youre 26years old, you should add 26 to this total. In our example here, the result would be 7550 plus 26, youll get 7576. Sixth, you have to add the number of days in a year, which is 365. In our example here, 365 added to 7576 is 7941.

19、The seventh and final step is this: subtract(減) 615 from the number that you have. In our example, 7941 minus 615 is 7326. The result here, 7-3-2-6, is the trick. The first part of the number is the address and the last part of the number is the age of the person. That is, 73is the address that we s
