1、.P07002Engineering Design Specs: Test Plan4 P07002 Two Way Communication DeviceEngineering Design Specs:Test PlanDescription: This document describes the testing procedures that will take place after the two-way communication device has been developed. The following procedures will ensure that the d
2、ocumented engineering design specs have been met. Please refer to the engineering design specs document for reference. It is assumed that the prototype product will be used for each test unless otherwise stated. 1. Cost: Access the Bill of Materials spreadsheet from the P07002 Project Documents file
3、. If the total cost for all the required materials is less than $1200.00 than the project will meet the budget requirement.2. Output within team programming capability: Compare the final program to the concept description and check if team programmed all described capabilities. The final program mus
4、t include an auto-complete feature, suggested phrase feature, save function, update database function, adjustable font size and symbol typing capability.· Auto-complete: Power on the device and wait for program to start. Type the following phrases into the text entry box for either the student
5、or professor. After entry of each phrase, press the ENTER key in order to enter the phrase into the conversation box. o “I have a question about the lecture”o “What is the homework assignment?”o “How do I solve this problem?”o “I need help on this problem.”o “Where do I start?”o “How did you get thi
6、s answer?”o “Is my answer correct?”o “Show me your notes.”o “Show me your homework.”o “Does that make sense?”If each phrase was auto-completed before the tester completed typing the entire phrase, the product has met the design spec.· Suggested phrase feature: Repeat the auto-complete test agai
7、n and look through the suggestion phrase window for the desired phrase. If each phrase was suggested before the tester completed typing the entire phrase, the product has met the design spec.· Save function: Enter 3 lines of text into the conversation box. The tester will need a USB portable dr
8、ive and computers with both a Windows operating system and Macintosh operating system on them. Place the USB drive into the prototype product and press the F1 key. When the “Are you sure you want to save” screen appears, press the Y key. The next screen that will appear will allow the user to enter
9、the desired file name for the saved session. Save the file as “Test Saved Session”. Once the “Session saved” screen appears, disconnect the USB drive from the device and attempt to load the session on both operating systems. If the saved session is able to load on both operating systems, the product
10、 has met the design spec.· Update database function: See test plan number 23.· Adjustable font size: Enter a phrase into the conversation box by first typing the phrase into the text entry box and pressing ENTER. Press the F3 key in order to increase the font size and repeat the first step
11、. Press the F3 key again and repeat the first step. There should now be three lines of text in the conversation box. Each line of text should be larger than the previous line of text. Now press the F2 key and repeat step one. Press the F2 key again and repeat the first step. There should be two addi
12、tional lines of text in the conversation box with a smaller font size than the previous lines. If this is true, then the product meets the design spec. ·3. Lightweight: Tester will need a scale to measure this spec. Place the device on a scale and record the complete weight. The final weight mu
13、st be less than 10 pounds. If the device is less than 10 pounds, the product has met the design spec.4. Dimensions: Tester will need a ruler (with inches) to measure this spec. Measure the height, width and thickness of the device in inches. It must measure to be equal to or less than 2in x 10in x 1
14、2in. If the device is within this range of dimensions, it has met the design spec.5. Display size: The tester will need a ruler (with inches) to measure this design spec. Measure the diagonal dimension of the LCD screen in inches. It must measure to be between 8 inches and 12 inches. This spec is al
15、ready known and has been determined by the manufacturer as 10.4 inches.6. Rotating capability: Place the device on a flat surface. Attempt to rotate the device to allow another user (sitting side-by-side) to access the keyboard. If the device rotates enough to allow another user to type comfortably,
16、 the design spec has been met.7. Processor speed: The processor must be able to fully handle the demands that the program and operating system places on it. Start the device and wait for the program to start. Enter several phrases into the text entry box. The program must be able run without signs o
17、f hesitation from the processor. If the processor shows any sign of hesitation, the spec has not been met.8. RAM: The device must have enough memory to support the search mechanism that is implemented as well as other functions of the program. When the program is running, open up a terminal window a
18、nd type “free”. If the available RAM is at 0 Mb, than the device has not met the spec.9. Time until hibernation: Power on the device. Once the device is finished starting up, start a timer and wait until the device enters a hibernation mode. Once the hibernation mode has begun, stop the timer and re
19、cord the time it took until the hibernation mode was entered. The time needs to be approximately 10 minutes. If the time until hibernation is approximately 10 minutes, then the design spec has been met. 10. Heat dissipation: The tester will need a mock up case and temperature probes along with the i
20、ndividual components for this test. This test must be performed before the final prototype is constructed. A mock up case will be developed from various pieces of plastic and possibly other materials to represent a volume similar in size to that of the actual device. The power supply as well as the
21、single board computer will be placed inside the setup to simulate an actual running environment. The board must be powered and allowed to run for a while to allow for a steady state environment to be reached. Once steady state operating conditions are achieved, temperature probes will be used to mea
22、sure the temperature of the board, power supply, air inside the case, and ambient air temperature outside of the case. The board needs to remain between 32 140 degrees Fahrenheit to meet the spec that the manufacturer has provided. If the board remains in this range of temperature, the fan supplied
23、for the design will meet the design spec. 11. Security: It is recommended by faculty that the tester does not test this design spec. The device will be stored in an office that is to be determined. Do not attempt to break into the office and steal the device. The project team is not responsible for
24、damages to any RIT property. 12. Provide graphical tools to users: The device must provide paper for the student, tutor or professor to use for graphical documentation. If paper is included on the device, the design spec has been met. 13. Internet access (if applicable): If internet access is provid
25、ed, the single board computer will need to be registered on RITs network. The tester will be given specific steps at that time to access the internet. 14. Water resistant: This test will need to be tested before the case is populated with electronics. The tester will need the empty case, tissue pape
26、r and a water dropper filled with water. Place the tissue paper inside the case and then place 4 drops of water onto the device. Wait 3 minutes and then disassemble the case and check the tissue paper. If the tissue paper is wet, the design of the case does not meet the design spec. The case will ne
27、ed to be adapted and re-tested. 15. Easy to clean: Use a dampened towel to wipe down the exterior of the case. The case must show signs of being cleaned.16. Detailed user manual: The tester will need the supplied user manual for the device. Open the user manual and attempt every procedure documented
28、 in the manual. If any procedure cannot be accomplished on the first attempt, the user manual needs to be rewritten and tested again.17. Training: The tester will need 3 deaf or hard-of-hearing students, 3 faculty members and a timer to test this design spec. · Train all 6 individuals on how to
29、 use the device. Time how long it takes to complete the training. Have each student/faculty member communicate with the tester by entering at least 3 phrases into the conversation box. If each student/faculty member can successfully enter the phrases, the supplied training manual has met the design
30、spec. · Have the 3 faculty members read the training manual section for updating the database. Ask each faculty member to update the database with a phrase. The faculty member must start from the session screen. Count the number of steps each faculty member takes to update the database. The num
31、ber of steps must be less than 5 in order for the design to pass spec. If the faculty member cannot update the database in less than or equal to 5 steps, the training manual must be updated and this step must be re-tested. 18. Adequately cover ME/EE curriculums: Allow 5 teachers from each area test the device. Each teacher should type 5 commonly used phrases they receive during office hours. Any phrase that is not in th
