6、ed to developing countries by migrant populations (World Bank, 2010).3 There has also been an increase in the diversity of countries of origin and the reasons for migration which has led to a greater analysis of the effects immigrants have on their host country.4 Although there is a widespread belie

7、f that immigration has a number of negative effects, a closer examination of the long-term factors show that the effects are mostly positive.5 In the following assignment, the economic, social and cultural effects of immigration will be examined to demonstrate this viewpoint.6 Word count: 161Writing

Though initial difficulties can be problematic, the cultural impact of immigrants on their host countries has been shown to benefit local communities in the long-term. 253146Writing ConclusionsQuestionAnalyse the Effects of Immigration on the Host Country. The eff

19、ects of immigration on a host country are complex and wide ranging.1 In particular, the effects on the economy are difficult to analyse and require complex statistical models taking long term impacts into account.2 However, there is a growing body of evidence to suggest that, in the long run, immigr

20、ation is beneficial to the economic development of the host country.3 The social impacts are more problematic and there are undoubtedly increased social tensions during the period of assimilation.4 These problems, though, are often overstated for political reasons and, as Elstrom (2007) has stated,

21、communities with high immigrant populations are often rejuvenated and develop a strong group identity.5 In contrast, cultural impacts are often more instant with immigrants providing a diverse range of cultural inputs.6 These inputs, rather than threatening the host culture, provide new levels of so

22、phistication and innovation.7 The main issue facing the national governments and community leaders of the host country is how to ease the process of assimilation of newly arrived immigrants.8 One way for this to be addressed is for programmes of education and training to be provided for newly arrive

23、d immigrants.9 This would enable them to avoid taking low paid jobs and resorting to crime which, in turn, would alleviate social tensions.10 Another possible solution is to use media campaigns to raise community awareness of the positive contributions made by immigrants.11 Ultimately, there needs t
