Teaching Procedures:I. Lead-in Teacher will invite the whole class to act the scene theyve role played last

Presentation and practice In “Discovering useful words and expressions” teacher will explain words such as “fault,author, etc.”; then teacher will explain other words like “businessman, envelop, etc.” by showing the students pictures with a busines

7、sman-looking person on and a real envelop to explain the words for students to memorize the words correctly.After learning the words the students would play “word guessing”. Every time one student come to the front and explain the word then the whole class guess what it is. The purpose is to practic

8、e part one. For part 2, students should read the two sentences which has one core word. Then the students guess the two meanings of one word. For part 3, students will read the short passage first then think about the logic between sentences so that theyll be able to figure out what are missing for

9、the blanks. In “Discovering useful structures” , teacher finds one sentence from the play “It is Henry Adams, an American businessman, who is lost in London.”explain noun clause as the object. Then ask students to answer questions in pairs and use noun clause as object such as “Can you tell me if yo

10、u like this play?-I must say that I really enjoy it.The teacher will find another modal sentence where noun clauses are used as the predicative. Then ask students to answer questions in pairs and use noun clause as the predicative, such as “Henry arrived in London by accident. The reason was.” III.

11、Summary Ask the students what theyve learned today so that theyll summarize the class by themselves. They can explain words in English, some words have two or more meanings and the usage of noun clause. IV. Homework Students are going to work in pairs and imagine that they are in an interview, ask partner “Why do you want to work for this company?” and answer it by using noun clauses as the predicative like “The reason is that.” Blackboard Lay
