willlearn:?whataposterintheconferenceis.?howtodesignaconferenceposter.?whyweneedaconferenceposter.TASKOBJECTIVESTaskI.:Inquiry/Cover/Thank-youLettersI.Readthefollowingconferencepostersandfamiliarizeyourselfwiththeformatandcontent.TaskPreparation1.Whatarethemainpartsinaconferenceposter?2.Whatisthedifferencebetweenaposterandapaper?3.Accordingtoyourunderstanding,whatisthefunctionofaposter?KEY1.Title,Introduction,Materialsandmethods,Results,Conclusions,Literaturecited,Acknowledgments,Furtherinformation2.Aposterisverydifferentfromapaperoratalk,andsodifferenttechniquesneedtobeusedinitspreparation.Inparticular,aposterisnotaconferencepaper,andsimplypinningapapertoaposterboardusuallymakesaverypoorposter.Aposterboardistypically4feethighand6feetwide,butthereverseorientation(tallandthin)isalsoseen.Itisadvisabletocheckbeforehandonthesizeoftheboardsthatwillbeavailabletoyou.Aposteritselfisavisualpresentationcomprisingwhateverthecontributorwishestodisplayontheposterboard.Usually,aposterismadeupentirelyofsheetsofpaperpinnedorattachedwithvelcrostripstotheboard,butthereisnoreasonwhyothervisualaidsshouldnotbeused.Thepinsorvelcroareusuallyprovidedwiththeboardbytheconferencesponsors.3.Thepurposeofaposteristooutlineapieceofworkinaformthatiseasilyassimilatedandstimulatesinterestanddiscussion.Theultimateaimisafruitfulexchangeofideasbetweenthepresenterandthepeoplereadingtheposter,butyoushouldnotbedisappointedifreadersdonotstoptochat—aproperlypreparedposterwillatleasthavegivenusefulinformationandfoodforthought.LanguageFocusReadthefollowingexpressionsusedininquiry/cover/thank-youletters.1.Researchhasalsoshownthatfullyjustifiedtext(likethisparagraph)ishardertoreader,sodon’tdothis,evenifitseemscoolandprofessionallooking.2.Althoughpreventionhasmorerecentlytakenabackseattotreatment,effectivepreventionisthekeytoreversingtheepidemic.3.Thepurposeofthepresentstudyistoexaminetheco-occurrenceofmentalhealthdisordersinthispopulation,andtoidentifygenderdifferencesintheprevalenceofthesedisorders.4.TogeneratehumanizedHNPtransgenicmousestraininordertoexaminethemechanismbywhichHNPsinducelunginjury.I.Introducingthebackgroundandobjectiveofaconference1.Useaphotograph,drawing,orflowchartifpossible,supplementedwithonlyabriefoverviewofyourprocedure.2.Themajorityofdataanalysiswasqualitativeandentrenchedingroundedtheory(conductedwiththeNVivoanalysisplatformV.8.0,QSRinternational).3.Atotalof544participantswererecruitedatintaketo3independentsubstanceabusetreatmentfacilitiesinOntario,Canada(eachprovidingawiderangeofintake,assessmentandtreatmentservices).4.TenMSsubjectswithgaitdisturbancewereenrolledandrandomlyassignedtoreceiveRASversusnointerventionfor2weeks.II.Introducingthemethods1.Theoveralllayoutinthisarenashouldbevisuallycompelling,withclearcuesonhowareadershouldtravelthroughthecomponents.2.Threecorefactorsemergedwhichcontributedmostcentrallytothecapacityforeffectivesexualdecisionmaking,whichwouldtheoreticallyleadtogreatersuccessinlow-risksexualchoicesanddecreasedHIVtransmission.III.Introducingtheresults3.However,asignificantdifferencewasfoundforthosemeetingcriteriaforotherormultiplementalhealthdisorders,with24.6%ofthewomenbelongingtothiscategorycomparedto11.5%ofthemen.4.Squirrelsweremorelikelytocrossifdetourswerelong,suggestingthatsquirrelsassessdistancesofdetoursandthatpredationrisk,energetic,orbothinfluencecrossingdecisions.1.Theseresultssuggestthataugmentingsocialnormsformennormalizinginterpersonalcommunicationinthecontextofcasualsexcouldbevitaltoperceivedself-efficacyandHIVprevention.2.Theresultsofthestudyindicateparticipants’enhancedunderstandingsofdefinitionofgoalsandobjectivesaswellastheirperceivedconfidenceinmasteringgoalsandobjectiveswriting.Ⅳ.Introducingtheresults3.Inthisstudy,womenwerefoundtohaveasignificantlygreaterprevalenceofmooddisorders,anxietydisorders,eatingdisorders,andmentalhealthdisordersoverall.4.ThesepreliminaryresultssuggestabeneficialeffectofRASongaitperformanceinMSpatients,butneedtobeconfirmedonalargersample.1.Iwouldliketothankmyadvisor,SvenKoenig,forhishelpwiththisresearch.Ithankmycommitteemembersfortheirtimeandguidance.2.WewishtothanktheNationalScienceandTechnologyDevelopmentAgencyofThailand(NSTDA)andtheNationalElectronicsandComputerTechnologyCenterofThailand(NECTEC)forthevaluablesponsorshipwithoutwhichtheprojectwouldnothavebeenimplemented.Ⅴ.Introducingtheacknowledgement3.ParticularappreciationgoestoDr.ErikSchleefnotonlyforthecountlesshoursofroughdraftreadingasitwasinprogress,inspiringsuggestions,encouragement,andgreatpatiencewithmyseeminglyendlessrevisionsandquestions,butalsofortheimmeasurableintellectualinputandlivelydiscussionthroughoutthedurationofthisprojectinhisoffice.4.Firstofall,wearegratefultotheorganizersofINTERACT2005,whohavegrantedusthevaluableopportunitytoholdourWorkshop“InternationalCOST294WorkshoponUserInterfaceQualityModels(UIQM)”inconjunctionwiththeconference,andalsoprovidedthetimelysupportforprintingthisWorkshop’sProceedings.Postersareaspecialtypeofpresentation.Whenwelldesigned,theyarenotsimplyjournalpaperspast
