InmylastthreejobsIhaveworkedwithmenandwomenfromverydiversebackgroundsandcultures.TheonlytimeIhaddifficultywaswithpeoplewhoweredishonestaboutworkissues.Iworkedwithonewomanwhowastakingcreditforworkthatherteamaccomplished.Ihadanopportunitytotalkwithheronedayandexplainedhowshewasaffectingthemorale.Shebecameveryupsetthatotherssawherthatway,andsaidshewasunawareofherbehaviororthereactionsofothers.Herbehaviorchangedafterourtalk.WhatIlearnedfromthatexperienceisthatsometimeswhatweperceiveaboutothersisnotalwaysthecaseifwecheckitout.

Theinterviewerislookingtodeterminehowwellyouknowyourself,howyoureacttodifficultsituations/tasksandcredibility.Lookbackoveryourworkexperienceforexamplesofchallenges…speakinginpublicatameeting,disagreeingwithamanageroveranimportantissue,beingaskedtouseasoftwareprogramyouhavenothadanopportunitytolearn…These’stories’shouldillustratealessonlearned,aproblemovercomeoraweaknessbeingdealtwith.“Ialwaysseemtoneedadayortwotopreparemyselftogiveapresentationtodepartmentheads.WhenIknowIhavetogiveareportonmyprojects,Iplanoutallthedetailsinadvanceandrehearse.Onetime,therewasaproblemwithasupplierandIwasaskedtoupdateseniormanagement…immediately.Thesupplychainwascrucialtothecompletionofanimportantprojectwehadbeenworkingonfor5monthsanddecisionshadtobemadebasedontheinformationIhadtoprepareandpresentonamoment’snotice.Igatheredtheinformationandpresenteditsimplyandindetail.ItwasmucheasierthanIthoughtwithoutthehoursofconcernandpractice.Thefactsspokeforthemselves.SinceIunderstoodthesituation,Iwasabletomakeitcleartomanagementandgetarapiddecision.IstillpreferadvancenoticebutIknowIcandeliverwhenaskedto.”
