“Whileitisdifficulttoestimatethenumberofbabiesthathavesurvivedwiththehelpofthebiscuits,afieldcountinMarchresultedin32babies,whichisanumbersimilartogoodseasons,”Broomesays.Althoughthefiguresarestillsmall,theresultsarepleasingandeveryoneishopefulthattheirnumberscanrecover.

BPAorBPScanaffectbraindevelopment,andheartandlunghealth.Theycanbetransferredfromfingerstothemouthviafood,orabsorbeddirectlythroughtheskinwhenheld.Ifthermalpaperweretoberecycled,itwouldpolluteotherproductsintherecyclingstreamwithBPAorBPS.Burningandcomposting(使成堆肥)arenotachoiceeither,astheywouldreleaseBPAorBPSintotheatmosphereorsoil.
