Intheincreasingdarknessthreefigureswerewalkingacrossthegrasstowardsthewindowtheyallcarriedgunsundertheirarms,andoneofthemhadalsoawhitecoathungoverhisshoulders.Atiredbrowndogkeptcloseattheirheels.Noiselesslytheydrewneartothehouse,andthenayoungvoicestartedtosinginthedarkness.

Framptonwildlyseizedhishatandstick;heranoutthroughthefrontdoorandthroughthegate.Henearlyranintoamanonabicycle.
