Baltimore.Weliveddownstairsandrentedtheupstairsroomstoout-patientsattheclinic.

OnesummereveningasIwasfixingsupper,therewasaknockatthedoor.Iopenedittosee

atrulyawfullookingman-notallerthanmyeight-year-old-IthoughtasIstaredattheshriveled

body.Buttheappallingthingwashisface,lopsidedfromswelling,redandraw.Yethisvoicewas
