Explanation of the use of modal verbs一、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞的基本用法情態(tài)動(dòng)詞表示說(shuō)話人的預(yù)期或情 緒,如可能、意愿、猜測(cè)、義務(wù)、需 要等。情態(tài)動(dòng)詞有以下特征:1、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞有一定的詞義,但不 能,必須與其后的 構(gòu)成謂語(yǔ);2 、 情態(tài)動(dòng)詞沒有 的變化,即不隨主語(yǔ)的不同而變化;3、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞除ought和have外, 后面只能接 ;4、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞沒有
4、非謂語(yǔ)形式,即 沒有不定式、分詞等形式。育人猶如春風(fēng)化雨,授業(yè)不惜蠟炬成灰精品教學(xué)教案設(shè)計(jì)| Excellent teaching plan5、但有些情態(tài)動(dòng)詞也有一般式和過去式的變化,如 may/ might, will/would, shall/ should 等。情態(tài)動(dòng)詞的“時(shí)態(tài)” 形式并不是時(shí)間區(qū)別的主要標(biāo)志, 不少情況下, 情態(tài)動(dòng)詞的現(xiàn)在形式和過去形式都可以用來(lái)表示現(xiàn)在時(shí)間、過去時(shí)間和將來(lái)時(shí)間。e.g., 1) He can t finish his essay by this time. 現(xiàn)在他不可能寫完論文。2) You may use my dictionary. 你 可以用我的

6、n you be so rude?5) Can you lift this heavy box?6) Can this be true?7) This can' t be done by him.8) It could be very interesting to go out for a drive.歸納 1: can and could(1)表示_常譯為“能,會(huì)”如例句。表示對(duì)現(xiàn)在或過去情況的 時(shí),只用在否定句或疑問句中,如例句。(3)表示 (在陳述句中 屬于“:在疑問句中屬于“”),常譯為“可以”,如 例句。(4)用于否定句、疑問句中,表示 等,如例句。(5)用于肯定的陳述句中,
7、表示理論 上的可能性,也可表示一時(shí)的情況, 如例句。could可表示 , 多用 于過去,也可指現(xiàn)在,通常表示虛擬 或作為 的委婉形式。e.g., Can/ Could I use your cell phone? 我可以用用你的手機(jī)嗎?2. may and mightLook at the sentencesand sum up the usage of the modal verbs.1) It may be true.2) May I ask you a question?3) May you be happy all your life.4) May you succeed!5) He
8、may /might be very busy now.6) Your mother may /might not know the truth.歸納 2: may and might(1)表示 ,常用于肯定 和否定句中,如例句。(2)表示 (在陳述句中 屬于“:在疑問句中屬于“”),常譯成“可以”, 如例句。表示“”時(shí), might比may語(yǔ)氣更委婉,類似could/ 與can。對(duì)其一般疑問句的肯定回答 可用may或can,但要作出否定回答 時(shí)要用。mustn't表 示“不可以,不許”。(3)用于祈使句,表示 , 如例句。7) ) might比 may語(yǔ)氣更委婉 may / migh
9、t表示 時(shí),表 示對(duì)現(xiàn)在或?qū)?lái)要發(fā)生的事情把握 不大,如例句。might / may have done表示對(duì)過去發(fā) 生的動(dòng)作進(jìn)行的。e.g., 1) He may have gone to the clinic. 他可能去醫(yī)務(wù)室了。2)He might have read about the news in the newspaper他可能已經(jīng)從報(bào)紙 上知道這個(gè)消息了。3. will and wouldLook at the sentencesand sum up the usage of the modal verbs.1) Will / Would you please post the

He will know.6) When he was a child, he would often go skiing.7) Every family would have some sort of trouble.歸納 3: will and would表示意愿 )will 表,would 表示,如例句 0(2)表示,主 要用于第二人稱的疑問句中,will和 woul
11、d均可用,would此時(shí)并不表過 去,而表示,如例句1。(3)表示, will表示現(xiàn) 在的習(xí)慣,would表示過去的習(xí)慣,如 例句。(4)表示, will用于談?wù)?現(xiàn)在,would可用于談?wù)撨^去,也可 用于談?wù)摤F(xiàn)在(語(yǔ)氣較委婉),如例 句。4. shall and shouldLook at the sentencesand sum up the usage of the modal verbs.1) You shall do as I say.2)Shall I open the window for you ?3) Nothing shall stop me doing it.4) You
