2、hildinafamilyofeight.Thefirst25yearsofherlifeAustenspentinHampshire.Austindidntgotoregularschools,butshereadmanyliteraryworksatherparentsguidance.Shestartedwritingabouttheageof20,andpublishedsixnovels.PrideandPrejudice(1813)andEmma(1816)arethebest-knownbooksofthem.VirginiaWoolfcalledher“themostperfe

3、ctartistamongwomen”.Mostofhernovelswerealladaptedintomoviesandsuccessfulintheworld.Forlivinginasmallcountrytown,contactingthemediumandsmalllandlords,pastoraswellastheirquietandcomfortablelivingenvironment,therewerenosignificantsocialcontradictionsinherworks.Shedescribedatruthfulpictureofherworld,esp

5、izabethandheroDarcy,hereldersisterJaneandMr.Bingley,youngersisterJaneandMr.Bingley,youngersisterLydiaandMr.Wickham,hergoodfriendCharlotteandMr.Collins.ThemarriagebetweenDarcyandElizabethrevealedthecharacteristicswhichconstitutedasuccessfulmarriage.Oneofthesecharacteristicswasthatthefeelingcouldntbeb

6、roughtonbyappearancesandmustgraduallydevelopbetweenthetwopeopleastheygottoknowoneanother.ThemarriagebetweenJaneBennetandBingleywasalsoanexampleofsuccessfulmarriage.Theyhadtheexcellentunderstanding,super-excellentdispositionofJaneandageneralsimilarityoffeelingandtastebetweenherandherhusband.UnlikeDar

11、badimpressionsonthepeoplearoundhimandElizabethalsohatedhim.ShehadprejudiceagainstDarcygradually.WhenDarcyproposedtoher,sherefusedhimdecisively.Afterthat,Darcybegantoreflectontheself-examinationandtreatedpeoplewithmorepopulist.Astimewentby,theycameacrossagain.Darcywasnotonlypolite,butwaspopularamongt
