11、dards Committee WD /3 on Welding of Structures and is issued as a joint Standard under the term s of the Active Cooperation A greement betw een Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand. The objective of this Standard is to provide rules for the w elding of a wide range of welded fabrications ot
12、her than pressure vessels and pressure piping, and it applies to statically and dynamically loaded w elds.This Standard requires that weld preparations,w elding consumablesand w elding procedures be qualified before commencement of welding. Pr equalified joint preparations, welding consumables and w
13、 elding procedures are also given in this Standard.Strength capacity of welds is not covered in this Standard and designers are referr ed to relevant design codes or specifications for this purpose.Statements expressed in mandatory terms in notes to tables are deemed to be requirements of this Stand

46、 N1S C O P EA N DG E N E R A L1.1SCO PEThis Standard prescribes materials of construction, weld preparations and weld qualities, surface finish, qualification of welding procedures and welding personnel, and fabrication and inspection requirements for w elds related to all stainless steel fabricatio
47、n made up of combinations of stainless steel plate, sheet, sections (including hollow sections and built-up sections), castings and forgings, by the following processes only:(a)Manual metal arc w elding (MMAW) . (b)Submerged arc w elding (SAW ).(c)Gas metal arc w elding (G MAW). (d)Gas tungsten arc
48、w elding (GT A W) . (e)Flux cored arc w elding (F CAW).(f )Plasma arc w elding (PA W) .The Standard does not cover the selection of grades to suit the corrosion requirements, design of w elded connections or permissible stresses in welds, nor the production, rectification or repair of castings.The S
49、tandard does not apply to the welding of pressure vessels and pressure piping.NOTE: F or further guidance on welding of stainless steel, refer to WT IA Technical Notes 13 and 16.1.2INN OVA TIONAny novel materials,weldingprocesses or consumables,or methods of construction w hich do not comply with a

These involve the selection of one of tw o levels of internal imperfections combined w ith one of three classes of surface imperfections (s ee Section 6).1.5.2Su rface fi
56、nishesThe Standard provides three grades of surf ace finish based on the type of application (s ee Section 6).1.6BAS IC WELDING REQU IREMENTSThe basis of this Standard is that a w eld shall(a)be deposited in accordance w ith a qualified w elding procedure;(b)be deposited by a w elder suitably qualif
57、ied to carr y out such a procedure; and(c)comply w ith all the appropriate requirements of the Standard.For certain conditionsprescribed herein, the welding procedure is deemed to be prequalified and does not require qualification testing (see Clause 4.3).1.7HEAT TREA TMENTPostweld heat treatment (P
58、WH T) is not norm ally required or necessary for austenitic, ferritic or ferr itic-austenitic (duplex) stainless steels. 59、rriedoutinaccordancew iththe manufacturer s instructions for the grade specified.It is important to note that heat treatments used for carbon steels can be highly detrimental to both the corr osion and mechanical properties of stainless steels.
