8、onger中的longer是副詞long的比較級,long有after a certain point of time(在某一時(shí)刻以后)之意,著重表示時(shí)間的不再延續(xù),意為如今不再。no longer等于not. any longer。e.g: He no longer lives here. = He doesnt live here any longer. 2. no more中的more是many / much的比較級,more有again之意,著重表示數(shù)量或程度的減少,意為再也沒有更多(大)的數(shù)量(程度)。no more等于not. any more。 e.g: You can drin

9、k no more. = You cant drink any more. no longer修飾延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞,如teach, live, work等,表示動(dòng)作不再延續(xù);no more修飾非延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞,如come, go , make (the same mistake)等,表示動(dòng)作不再次發(fā)生。exert v.施加exert sth on sbexert pressure on sb 對施加壓力exert control on sb 對施加控制 exert influence on sb 對施加影響e.g: His wife exerted a lot pressure on him to ch

33、/certain to do sth句型中,表示一定會(huì)做某事”,主語可以是人,也可以是物。e.g: Spring is sure/certain to follow winter. 3. 兩者都能用于be sure/certain +從句”句型中,表示確信”,主語只能是人,而不能是物。e.g: Tom is sure/certain that I put the key on the table.4. 兩者都能用于make sure/certain +從句”結(jié)構(gòu)中,表示確定;弄清楚”,主語只能是人。e.g: You must make sure/certain when the bus wil

34、l leave. 5. I m not sure”與I m not certain”意思相同。 e.g: I m not sure/certain where he is. 不同點(diǎn) 1. I m sure”與I m certain”均可譯為我深信(確)信”,但兩者的含義卻不同。前者表示一種主觀上的判斷或感覺,事實(shí)并不一定如此;后者強(qiáng)調(diào)的則是客觀事實(shí),意為主語已經(jīng)知道后面的內(nèi)容是既定的事實(shí)。e.g: I m sure he didn t steal it. He isn t that kind of person. e.g: I m certain he didn t break the cup

I broke it myself. 2. 如果it作為形式主語代替從句時(shí),則其后的表語用certain,而不能用sure。e.g: It isn t certain whether he will give us a report next monday. 3. 兩者在作定語時(shí)含義不同sure意為可靠的;無誤的”;而certain若修飾可數(shù)名詞,意為某一;某些;某種;一些”,若修飾抽象名詞,表示程度,意為有點(diǎn);有些”。e.g: The letter was sent by a sure hand.e.g: A certain person called on me yesterday.4

36、. 在祈使句中常用sure,不宜用certain。e.g: Be sure and remember what i told you.5. 口語中,sure常作副詞,用在肯定答語中替代surely,這時(shí)與of course,certainly意思相當(dāng),而certain不可作副詞用。would you please turn down the radio a little bit? sure/of course/certainly.
