Thepurposeofthischapteristodealwithissuesconcerningthewritingand

revisingofthedissertation.Beforeyoustarttowrite,youshouldhavecreatedtheoverall

planforthedissertation.Onethingthatneedstobedonebeforeyoubegintowrite

istoworkonanoutline,asdetailedaspossible,whichshouldincludethemainpoints

ineachsectionandchapter.Asthedifferentelementsofstructureinthedissertation

havedifferentfunctionsandplaydifferentrolesinthedissertation,wesuggestthata

dissertation,likeahouseorabuilding,shouldhaveaproportionalstructure,which

meansthattheresearchershouldbeclearaboutthegenerallengthofeachchapter.In

thischapterwewillalsopredictandanalysethepossibleproblemsthatyoungresearchers

mayencounterwhenheiswritingthefirstdraft,andwewillsuggestthatresearchmust

becompletedbeforeyoustarttowrite.Finally,wewilltalkabouttherevisionofthefirst
