Outline1.Briefintroductiono1.1DefinitionofminutesMinutesareaformalbriefsummaryofproceedingsatmeetingswhichiscirculatedtoallpeoplewhowere(orshouldhavebeen)atthemeeting.Itisafinalaccuraterecordofwhattranspiredatameeting,andanofficialrecordofthebusinessofanorganization.Atsomemeetings,especiallyofbodieswithlessformalaccountabilities,theterm“minutes”issometimesreplacedbytheterm“note”.Notesdifferfromminutesinthat,typically,theyarelessformal,dependingonthestatusofthecommittee/workingpartyconcerned.Also,notesarelessdetailedandtheyarenotnecessarilytobeapprovedatthenextmeeting.Usually,itisanormalpracticeforthesecretaryateachmeetingtotaketheminutes.
