magazinestocommercials,we'retoldthatweshoulddemandmorefromlivesthatare,formany

ofus,prettygood.Wesupposetolookbetter,eatbetter,findbetterjobs,bebetterloversand

parentsandworkers.Astablemarriageisn'tenough.It'ssupposedtobeafairytale.Perfectionis

thegoal.

Settlinginmysense,isaboutacceptance.Tmaprettyhappyperson,inlargepartbecause

I'mhonestwithmyselfaboutwhatIhave.

Ofcourse,somesituationsareworthimproving.Ifyourweightjeopardizesyourhealth,

exerciseandchangeyoureatinghabits;ifyourjobmakesyoutrulymiserable,findanewone.If

yourmarriageistoxic,endit.Chancesare,though,youprobablyhavewhatyouneed.Ifyou,re

unhappy,askyourself:AmIunhappybecauseIreallydon'thavewhatIneed,orbecauseIjust

wantmore?

So,yes,I'msettling.Tmhappywithmyhusbandwho,despitehisflaws,isacaringfather,

Beforethetelevisionwasinvented,familiesspenttheirsparetimedoingdifferentactivities

together.Now,mostfamiliesstayathomeandwatchTV.Butthereareafewreasonswhy

watchingtelevisioncanbeharmful.

ThemostimportantreasonwhywatchingTVisbadisitinfluenceshowmuchfamily

memberscommunicate.Parents,grandparents,andotherfamilymembershavealotofwisdomto
