TheexacttimeoftheconstructionofNanyueTempleisunknown.ItexistedasearlyasintheQinandHanDynastis.OriginallyLocatedonthesummitofZhurongPeak,Thetemplewaslatermovedtothemountainfoottofacilitatethereligiousactivities.ThebeginningoftheTangDynastywitnessedtheformalconstructionoftheHeavenlyLordHuo"sTemple"the"HeavenlyMasterTemple".SoastoenshrineandworshiptheGodsofthefivesacredmountains,DuringtheSongDynastytheimmortaloftheHengshanMountainwasreveredasthe"HeavenlyMasterZhaosheng",asaresultthetemplewasgraduallyexpandedandenlarged.SincetheTangDynastyNanyueTemplehadbeedsubjecttosixfiresand16reconstructionsallthroughtheSong.Yuan,MingandQingDynasties.Inthe8thyearofEmperorGuangxu"sreignintheQingDynasty(1882),theImperialCourtorderedtherbuildingofNanyueTemple.Whichhadbeenruinedbylightning,Theprojectwasimitative.CopyingthestylesoftheImperialPalace.Andeventothepresentdayitisstillwellpreserved.
