inthedockatfirst,thedogwasneverfoundlater.

ItseemsSpiderdecidedtosearchforuselsewhere.WesailedbacktwoyearslaterandreestablishedourhomeinToowoomba.Myfatherimmediatelybeganhis

ownsearchingforSpider.SeveralmonthspassedbuttherewasstillnonewsconcerningSpider.Thedogwasgone,

possiblyshotordeadfromstarvationorexhaustion.Onecoldmorning

eightmonthsafterourreturn,myfatherhadacallfromanoldladywhosaidshewas

puttingfoodout“foraveryolddog”.Inthenightthefooddisappeared.Thishadbeengoingonforafewweeks.

Thatwasenoughformyfathertointerruptmyhomeworkandwesetoffimmediately.Whenwearrivedattheold

lady’shouse,sheinvitedusintoanoldbush.Sadly,shethentoldusthatthe

“dingodog”

hadn’tbeenaroundfora
