Whats the boy doing? Oh, hes having a yard sale. Make the Ss guess the meaning of “yard sale”. Then say: Look at the bike over there. he bought it three years ago. Ask: How long has he had the bike? Help the Ss answer: He has had it for three years. He has had it since three years ago. Write them on the Bb. Then say: Look at the books, how long has he had them? Can you guess? Get the Ss to say: He has had it for years/since years ago. Then make them guess more things by using “for” and “since”. Step 3 Listening and practicingGet the Ss to listen to 1b and practice in pairs by using the information in 1a. Pay attention to the usages of the Present Perfect Tense by using “for” and “since”.Step 4 Listening and practicing Get the Ss to listen to the tape and check the things Armys family are giving away and circle the things they are keeping. Then listen to it again and fill in the blanks. Practice in pairs by using the information in 2a and 2b. Step 5Role-playingGet the Ss to read the conversation and answer the questions below:1 What things has Amy brought to Sunshine Home for children? What are they?2 How long has she had the soft toys?Then ask the Ss to retell the conversation according to the questions?.
