教學(xué)步驟Teaching stepsTeaching proceduresWarming-up1. Check homework. (Students downloaded the micro class about “How to read large numbers in English” from the public QQ file and watched it at home.)2. Show two groups of numbers and ask students which group is easier to read. (Group A is in Chinese style, and Group B is in English style.) And introduce the methods of reading large numbers (thousand, million, billion).Lead in1. Show the four numbers (8,844.43/6,671/1,025/9,600,000) and ask students to read. Then, ask students what these numbers remind them of to teach the four places: Qomolangma, the Nile, the Caspian Sea, the Sara.Meanwhile, remind them that they are the top of the world.2. Lead students to read: Qomolangma, the Nile, the Caspian Sea, the Sahara.PresentationActivity 1a Match the facts you know.1. Students match the facts by themselves. (The teacher reminds the students that the adjective of each sentence is useful.)2. Teach the new words and expressions and lead them to read: square, kilometer, in size, deep.3. Students volunteer to check answers. (Students should read the facts with the whole sentences by adding “is”. Eg. Qomolangma is 6,671 kilometers long.)4. Ask questions about the facts to help students to consolidate. Eg: Teacher: How high is the Qomolangma? Students: Its 8,844.43 meters high.5.
