iwasabouteightornineyearsoldatthattime,butinawayitwastheverystartingpointofmylife,foribegantounderstandthewordresponsibilityandtolearntoalwaysdomydutiesfaithfullyanddevotedly,fortheimplicationsofthatsacredwordhasdawnedonme:themutualneedandtrustofpeople,theco-operationandinter-reliancewhicharetheveryfoundationofhumansociety. laterinmylife,icontinuedtoexperiencemanyfailures.butneveragaindidifeelthatregretwhichstruckmeatthedeathofthegirl,foritmakesmyheartsatisfiedtothinkthatihavealwaysdoneeverythinginmypowertofulfillmyresponsibilitiesasbestican. asigrewup,changedandimprovedbythisincidentandmanyothersimilarones,ibegantoperceivethechangestakingplacearoundmeandtofindthatsociety,inaway,wasinitsformativeyearslikemyself.newbuildings,newmoditiesandnewfashionsappeareveryday.newideas,newinformation,newtechnologies.peoplecantalkwitheachotherfromanycorneroftheearthinamatterofseconds.societyisbeingmorepetitive. wordslikeindividualityandcreativityaregettingmoreemphasisandmorepeoplearerewardedfortheirhardworkandefforts.suchistheerainwhichthisgeneration,growsandmatures. suchistheerainwhichthisgenerationwilltakeoverthenationfromourfathersandlearntorunit.yetinthemeantime,manyproblemsstillexist. welearnthatcrimestakeplaceinbroaddaylightwithcrowdsofpeoplelookingonandnotassisting.wehearthattherearestillabout1millionchildreninthiscountrywhocantevenaffordtogotoelementaryschoolswhileenormoussumsofmoneyarebeingsquanderedawayondinnerpartiesandluxurycars. webuyshoddymedicines,ormerelyworthlessjunkinthenameofmedicines,thataggravate,ratherthanalleviateourdiseasessincemoney,manypeoplebelieve,isthemostimportantthingintheworldthatmustbemade,evenattheexpenseofmoralityandresponsibility. suchanera,therefore,determinesthatweareagenerationwithakeenersenseofpetitionandefficiencyandagreaterreadinesstothinkcriticallyandactcreatively. suchanera,furthermore,demands,thatweareagenerationwithaclearperceptionofourhistoricalresponsibilityandanaggressivewilltotakeactionandsolvetheproblems.historyhaslongbeenpreparingthesequalitiesinthisgenerationanditisnowcallingusforwardtogivetestimonytoourpatriotismandheroismtowardsthisnationandallhumanity. standingherenow,bablyillbeanordinarymanfortherestofmylife.butthisdoesntdiscouragemeany,foriknowthatwithmysenseofresponsibilityanddevotedeffortstoalwaysstrive,forthebest,itsgoingtobeameaningfulandworthwhilelifethatiwillbeliving. standingherenow,ithinkofthepast15yearsofthisnation,whichhasachievedgreatnessthatinspiredmillionsofpeopleofmyage,mostofwhomwillnotattainfameorprestigeandonlyafewofwhomwillberememberedbyposterity.butthatdoesntdiscourageusany,becauseweknowthattheworldwatches,theworldlistens,theworldiswaitingtoseewherethisnationwillbeheadinginatimeofrichopportunitiesandfiercepetition. icanteverforgetthatlittlegirlinmyclasswhocouldnthadthesameopportunitiesasanyofusheretoenjoyawonderfullifetodayandahopefulworldtomorrow. itisthesacredresponsibilityofthisgenerationtofaceuptothechallengesofthenewcenturyandtodevoteoursweatandblood,ourwisdomandpassion,tothehistoriccauseofma-ki-ngthisnationagreaterandhappierlandforeveryoneofus.wearenotgoingtoevadethatresponsibility.wearegoingtoletpeopledown.andpeople,farandnear,willhearofus.frostwillbebroughttotheirbackbonesandtearstotheireyeswhenourstoriesaretoldandretold,soletusgoforth,myfellowmembersofthisluckilychosengeneration,andmeetthenewcenturyinvictoryandglory. knowingtheconsequencesofchoice overthepastspringfestival,igotinvolvedinafamilydispute.rightbeforeigothome,foursatellitechannelsoftvwereaddedtothe14channelswehadalreadyhad.inprimetimeatnight,theyallhadinterestingshows.therefore,thefiveofus-myparents,mysistersandi-hadtoargueoverwhattowatch.finally,weagreedthatweshouldwatchthemostinterestingprogramme.ifwe couldagreewhatthatwas. however,allofusth
