Wow, almost everyone likes reading.Im so glad to know it.Then what kind of books do you like? Science book, history books.good! Today we will learn something about a scientist and writer. 2. Pre-listening1) Showing pictures. Some new words and phrases will be shown up in our listening. Lets learn them first. I will show some pictures with English words or phrases and let you guess the meaning. For the first one, what is that? Who can tell me? Lucy,please.“It is scientist”. Is she right? I hear some of us say it is right and scientist means a person who studies one or more of the natural sciences. And what is the second one ? The boy in the corner. Can you? Yes, he mentions that it is “mystery”, which means something that is difficult to understand or to explain.Great!2) Showing video. Issac Asimov is unfamiliar to most of you, therefor I will present a video to help you have a better understanding of him. It is related to our listening content next. So please watch it carefully and tell us what it will talk about. And I will ask some of you to share with us. OK. You finished it. Who wants to try?Li Lei,please. Wonderful! The video is mainly about Issac Asimovs achievement. 3. While-listening1) Pair works. Now you will listen to me read the paragraph for the first time.After that,you will discuss with your desk mates what is the main idea of the text. Then you will be asked to share you answers. Issac Asimov was an American scientist and writer who wrote around 480 books that included mystery stories, science and history books, and even books about the Holy Bible and Shakespeare. But he is best known for his science fiction stories. Asimov had both an extraordinary imagination and an amazing mind. He searched for explanations of everything, in the present and past.Times up. Whod like to share your answer? The boy in the corner please.What is your answer? Its a brief introduction of Issac Asimov. Do you agree with him? Wonderful! 2) Individual work Since you have known the passage mainly talked about, lets listen to the tape for the second time for details. You will have 2 minutes to discuss the 3 questions with your desk mates.Then you will write your answers on the blackboard. Have you finished? Speaking(story-retelling) After listening to the paragraph for two times, you must have a deep understanding of it.Now you need to try to retell the story in your own words.If you have any difficulties,please discuss with your desk mates.
