Nowadays,withtherapiddevelopmentoftourismindustry,ithas

becomepopularforquitesomepeopletotravelatvacationafteralong

periodofheavyloadofworking.Theycometosomehistoricalsitesto

relaxthemselves.Atthesametime,holidayisthebusiesttraveltimesof

theyear.Generallyspeaking,thefamousChinesesitesofhistoricalinterest

willchargehigherfeesduringthetime.Recently,acontroversial

viewpointtowardshistoricsites'higherchargethatwhethersuchaction

willhurtcitizen'ssentiment.Myopinionisthatit'sworthcharginghigher

fees.

Firstofall,Ifirmlybelievethatitisnecessarytochargehigherfees.

Peoplecouldunderstandthemeaningoflifeandthepermanentvaluefrom

thesemeasures,thentheywillchangetheirthinkingstyleofstudyand

work.Historicalsitesletpeoplerealizedeathisnotfarawayandwe

shouldnotwasteourlife.

Moreover,whenparentstaketheirchildrentothehistoricinterest,the

childrencanlearnknowledgeofhistoryratherthanjustplayingthere.At

thesametimetheyreceiveeducation.Infact,Ithinkitismeaningfultogo

toChinesesitesofhistoricalinterestthantotheplayground.

Lastbutnotleast,historicalsites'completepreservationneedsalarge

amountofmoney.Inordertomakeourhistoricalsitesexistforever,we

shouldpayhigherfees.

Tosumup,it'snodoubtthathistoricalsiteschargehigherfees

intourismseason.Weshouldundertaketheresponsibilityofprotecting

historicalsitesandourenvironment,meanwhileweshouldbeawarethat

themeaningoflifeisnotfrombirthtodeathbutmakingcontributionto

recentlyissuedanoticebanningdomesticradioandTVstationsfrom

translatingforeignradioandTVprogrammesintoanylocaldialect.The

noticesaidthatsuchdialecttranslationcontradictsthenationalinitiative

topromotePutonghua,orMandarin,aroundthecountry.Foreign

programmesthathavebeentranslatedintodialectsmustberemoved

fromtelevisionandradioimmediately.Thenoticeevokedamixed

responsefromexpertsandaudioandvideoproducers,aswellasthe

generalpublic.Manyvoicedtheirconcernsthatlocaldialectswouldbe

forniddeninpublicplaces.Mandarian,whichmeans"commonlanguage",

isthecountry'spredominantlanguageandiswidelyusedbymorethan70

percentofthepopulation.However;localdialectsstillenjoypopularityfor

relativelyless-educatedpeopleinsomeoccasions.Thedialectsdomake

uniqueroleandshouldbetoleratedforexistenceinpublicplaces.

Thoughpromotedwidelyinpublicplaces,dialectsareacceptablein

publicplaces.First,itismorethanameretoolforcommunication.Itis,

mostimportantly,themessengerofitsrespectiveculture.Ifthedialect

waseliminatedfromdailyuse,theculturewillbebroken.Second,

Mandariancanabsorbtheelitepartoflocaldialecttoenrichits

vocabularyandusage.ThisistheperfectionofMandartianfrom

thousandsofyearsblendandcontact.Thedialectscanalsobepopularin

thepublic.AlongwiththefamousshortplaybycomicactorsinNEChina,

thelocaldialectcameintothespotlight,andenjoyedmorepopularity

throughoutChina.Suchaculturalphenomenonrepresentstheaudience

anattitudetolocaldialectswhichcatertothetasteofthemajority.Third,

dialectistheonlymeanofcommunicationtosomeundereducatedlocal

people.Iflocaldialectsareforbiddeninthepublicplaces,theycannot

communicate.

Tosumupzlocaldialectsshouldbetoleratedinpublicplacesforits

uniquerolewhichMandariancannotsubstitute.Weshouldguarteeits

survivalbecausedialectsstandforourspiritualland.Fromalong-term

perspective,dialectsshouldnotandwouldnotbewipedout.Thereisno

needforanypurposefulanddeliberateattempttoprotectdialects.Just

letdialectstaketheirnaturalcourse.Thebestwaytoprotectadialectis

touseitindailylifeandpassitdownfromgenerationtogeneration.

08:WhatIHaveLearnedFromMyYearsatUniversity

Thedevelopmentofanindividualhumanexistencecanbedividedinto

severalimportantstages.Butnoperiodcanbemoreinfluentialuponthe

latercourseofourlifethantheyearswehaveexperiencedincollege.

Hereisthecradleofintelligentsiawithvision,missionandpassion.And

now,asIamreadytoleavecampusandfacetherealworld,Idaresay

thatnootherplacecanteachmemore.

IamveryproudthatinuniversityIhavelearnthowimportantitis

foronetohavevision,thatabilitytoseeaheadoftimeandpossibly

others.Collegehasraisedmeup,sothatIcouldenjoyabroaderviewof

theworld.UniversityLibrary,thesanctuaryofmindalwayskeepsmeina

closetouchwiththegreatthoughtsofgiants,Shakespeare,Russell,

Churchill,Roosevelt,tonameonlyafew.Alltheseoverwhelmingly

famousnameshaveturnedfamiliarandfriendlyhere.Thesegreatminds

teachmehowtoliveameaningfullife.Theywarnmethatthelastbut

greatestenemyformankindishumanexistenceitself.Theirwordsof

wisdomshallguideandguardmetoovercomealltheobstaclesbesetin

thecourseofmylife.Inthelightofthisstatement,Ihavetosaythat

collegeyearshavebrightenedupmyvision.

ItisatuniversitythatIhaveacquiredanaddedunderstandingof

themeaningofmissioni.e.manshouldhaveshouldersstrongenoughto

takemoreresponsibilitiesofthetime.Collegehasenrichedme,sothatI,

tosomeextent,havediscoveredthetruthtoliveby.WhenIwasa

sophomore,IwaschosenavolunteerfortheRedCrossInstitution.My

job,then,wastoassistthedoctorwiththebloodcollectinginablood

donationcaronthestreet.Thosedaysbestowedmewithamovingbut

alittlebitsingularpicture,inwhichthepainfulinjectionandhearty

smileareperfectlyandbeautifullycombined.Everyparcelofblood

meansapieceofhope,throughwhichIseethatthepossessionoflife

liesinsharing.Thisishowcollegeyearshavedefinedmymission.

ItisaftersomeyearsatuniversitythatIhavebetterapprehended

sober.Ifanycanliveuptosohighastandardofexistence,college

graduatescan.AndIamfortunateinbeingamongthematthismoment

andhavingsparedlittletimecultivatingmyvision,missionandpassion

inthepastfouryears.Withthese,Ihavebettercouragetochange

myselfandmostprobablybetterpreparationformyfuture.

07:FinancialDisparity:NotaBarrierforFriendship

WiththedevelopmentofmarketeconomyinChinaarisetheincome

gapsbetweenpeopleworkingindifferentfields:someearngoodmoney;

somemakeendsmeet;someothersliveonnarrowmeans.Ontopof

manysocialproblemsthisfinancialdisparitymaycausethereisaclaim

thatitaffectsfriendship.Theassumptionseemsreasonablebutwemay

finditdoesnotreallyholdwaterbytakingacloselookintothesubject.

Firstofalltrueandlastingfriendshipisbuiltoncommonvalues

pursuitsorhobbiesratherthansimilarincomes.Friendsarethosewho

agreewithyourlifeviewsandsticktothesomeprinciplesthosewho

preferablemeanstorecruitprospectiveemployees.Asaresult,there
